So…you have people liking your Facebook Page, but they do not seem to be interacting. You might think that it’s your content, but in some cases it’s actually Facebook’s rules determining who sees your post! Facebook has an algorithm which tries to deliver the posts people most want to see. Therefore, your posts do not get seen by all of your fans, but only by those who have engaged with your page the most–somewhere between 5%-20% of your fanbase!
It isn’t good enough to just get a “Like” to your Facebook page if you want to reach your fan base. In order to really reach your fans, here are some options:
1. Encourage your fans to add your page to their “Interest List” or “Show in News Feed.” These options are found by hovering your mouse over the “Like” button. Facebook says this feature helps its users to organize their subscriptions better; what it is does, allows a person to find the pages they liked since the information is not going to show up in their news feed.
2. Run Facebook ads. I know what you’re thinking: I ran Facebook ads to get them to “Like” my page, now I have to run more ads so my fans can see my posts…add your own thoughts here.
3. Send direct messages to fans. This method seems archaic and a lot like email, but it is still an option.
4. Use some out-of-the-box thinking–instead of paying Facebook to run ads, pay your fanbase to engage with your posts!
We would still love it if you would “Like” our page, but if you really want to follow our Facebook updates, then add us to your Interest List. Thank you!
